"The Doty-Doten Family in America"

Thanks to one of our "cousins", Ethan Allan Doty, we have the genealogical research that he performed between 1871 and the1897 publication of his book, The Doty-Doten Family in America.  The book, and a 1984 reprint, are both out of print.  Second-hand copies may be available through E-bay, Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.

Fortunately, a Long Island company, GenealogyCDs, has made a complete version of the book available on CD, and has given the Doty Society permission to add it to our website.  You must have a recent version of Adobe Acrobat to view and to search the 1000+ pages.  We recommend that you have the latest version of Acrobat Reader (version 9) on your PC or Mac.

Click here to view the book.  It is a large file (57 megabytes), so it is better to have a high-speed Internet connection -- cable or DSL.  Access to the book requires the current username and password.

Note that the FreeFind search engine at the bottom of each Web page cannot be used to search The Doty-Doten Family in America.  Instead, use the "Find" function at the top of the Adobe Acrobat Reader page, after downloading the book.

Google books now also has a copy of The Doty-Doten Family in America available online, including a search capability..

If you do not have a high-speed connection to the Internet, you may be interested in buying a copy of the CD, either through their website, or  by mail:
GenealogyCDs.com
3 Apex Dr
Coram, NY 11727

The current price is $17.50, plus $2.50 for First Class mail in the U.S.

Many other regional CDs are also available from GenealogyCDs.
